Let’s face it, some readers are just bad. They don’t really know what they are doing or they are just “all gloom and doom”. You know the type. However, most readers who are working professionally, especially if they have multiple years of experience, really do know what they are doing. You can do many things to partner with your reader to ensure a great reading.
The variety of types and styles of readers are countless. The variations of psychics include intuitive, past life, tarot, tea leaves, astrology, and so much more. The list goes on and on. When you visit a reader, whether it is in a brick-and-mortar situation or online, the reader has most likely gone through a scrutiny of testing before being allowed to represent the company.
Occasionally your reader might have an off day therefore you just didn’t connect well with them. It happens sometimes. Most of the time you will receive excellent readings from professionals. When the reading did not flow well or you were unhappy with the outcome, consider the following:
1. There are no bad readings.
Perhaps you could look at it again and reconsider your judgment about the reading. Try looking at it not as “good” or “bad” but just as “is”. Decide to simply consider the information.
Example: Seeing the world in black and white is very limiting.
What would happen if you decided there is no such thing as good or bad but only opportunities to learn and grow? Suppose your new puppy got hit by a car and must be “put down”, as she is in pain and cannot be saved. That’s bad, right? Not good. If you focus on it being bad you could tear yourself up with guilt, and blame, avoid responsibilities, spiral into depression, and domino into other areas of your life, leaving a lasting negative effect on your life. If you do not internalize it or make it a bad thing but instead just accept that it is a thing, not good or bad, just a thing that happened. Now you can grieve as needed then let it go. You can see your own responsibility in the accident, Avoid self-judgment while you make internal decisions to upgrade how you care for others and yourself.
Ask yourself, “why is this experience coming into my life? What am I supposed to see from this?” then let it go.
The veterinarian announces after closer examination that the puppy already had deep neurological damage which caused her to become disoriented and get in the way of the car. If the car incident had not happened she would have had a long and painful death. So, maybe, it was actually the best. The puppy was saved from weeks or months of dying in a horrible way while you helplessly watched the decline.
It wasn’t bad or good. It just “is”.
2. Various Reader Styles - No two readers, read alike.
Some readers just tell you what they “see”. There is no mention of any tools of any kind while on the other end of the spectrum, there are those who use astrology charts, tarot cards, pendulums, muscle testing, and on and on.
Some readers interact with the client during a reading while others work best in a trance state, requiring less interaction. Some reader styles will click with you right away but others may require 2 or 3 visits before you are fully comfortable with their style. Be open to other readers with different styles from what you have become accustomed to. Every reader will have a unique way of sharing information as well as bringing original information to the table to aid you in your journey.
3. Be very clear about what you want.
Example: If you request a reading about John and your reader has laid out 3 cards for your reading what do you think will happen if you ask about Robert after the reader has laid out cards for John?
It is possible you will interrupt the flow of the readers’ tranced information and cost you some of your paid minutes while they explain to you that the current reading is for John, not Robert but we can read for Robert when this reading is complete or we can throw out this reading and start over with Robert.
Do you see what just happened?
Solution: Before you begin your reading make a list of possible questions, the information you want the reader to know, list all the people you want to inquire about, and so on. Your chosen reader can begin the reading with all this information and so proceed as such. This will save you from your minutes being wasted and get more of what you are looking for.
Most likely, your reader really wants to support you in the best way they can.
The hired reader has the greatest intention to support you in giving you the best guidance possible.
4. Let go of your attachment to a particular outcome.
Okay, this is a hard one for many people. Has this ever been you?
You go to a tarot reader to receive information about this great new love you have. You expect to hear that you will be madly in love until the end of time and live happily ever after. Then the reader tells you after another month you will see this great love is a swindler and is just using you for your money. Ouch! That’s gotta hurt.
Don’t run away from the reader at this point. Don’t shut down. Stay in there. That reader is going to tell you why, how, and what.
All that you desire to know, your reader will explain. How to recover and what new situation life is opening up to you as well as what is your next move. It’s your reader’s responsibility to tell you the truth about what they see...even if it hurts.
Solution: Come to the table with an open mind and without attachment to any particular story.
5. Focus.
Even if you are in Singapore and your reader is on the moon it will still greatly help you to focus your energies on the reading.
Pull the car over, lock the door, stop washing dishes, turn off the television, put down your book or tablet, get off your feet, etc. You get the idea. Get your body in a good place to receive.
Here is a simple method: Sit squarely in front of your device, feet flat on the floor. When your reader tells you she is beginning to shuffle the cards or is preparing to do your reading then close your eyes, take a slow deep breath, and breath out while thinking about and/or feeling your current queries. Visualize and feel what you are inquiring about. This will connect you to your reader and the process. Now you are ready to receive.
It’s true, there are some bad readers out there but you can create better odds of getting results that will inspire you, give you hope, and direction, and activate healing when you understand some basics of what you can do to be a part of the best result.
