Love's Tarot Journal Entry:
I see the King of Cups as emotional intelligence in action. Most of my life I have spent on emotional alert, cocked and ready to fire at any moment. This is what Complex Trauma does to you. I grew up in a situation where I was constantly in danger, never feeling safe. As an adult, released into the world with only the coping tool of fear I was triggered by almost everything. I always felt justified in my anger. I didn't understand why everyone had a problem with it. It cost me so many things in my life. There have been so many jobs I was fired from, people who cut me out of their lives, and really bad karmic experiences. It was probably about 15 years ago when things began to change for me. That's when I began to notice how my body feels when the anger comes. It took years of practice and self-reflection to get to a point where I am usually in peace and am beginning to repair important but broken relationships. Understanding emotional flashbacks, self-awareness and taking responsibility has allowed me to slowly but surely acquire a greater level of emotional maturity. I still have triggers but I catch myself before I ruin my relationships.
