Facing my inner Knight of Swords has been bittersweet. In the beginning, when I was released into the world, I was terrified and had no clear goals or direction. It was important that I leave the nest, as there was no safety for me there. No one was looking out for me but rather looking for reasons and ways to scapegoat me. In hindsight, I see how I became really creative at solving my problems and at ways to prevent problems. I spent my early adult life running from danger. Because I lacked the correct parenting and support to make good decisions I often made decisions and came up with solutions that would just create more problems to solve. I solved my problems from a place of fear and panic. Because I had so greatly been violated as a child I lacked a clear understanding of boundaries and was perpetually revictimizing myself. My biggest goal in life was to be safe but I didn't know the first thing about how to create safety. I only knew how to run and feel like the whole world was out to get me. In reality, my husband saved me. We fought and had a lot of problems but in many ways, he was my guardian angel. Many years later I was much wiser and stronger. I outgrew him and then he became the problem I needed to solve. In my wisdom I understand now that there will always be problems, The challenge is to move through life's road bumps with grace and ease.
