Love's Tarot Journal Entry:
The Empress III brings up some multi-layered issues for me. Not only do I have a mother, I am a mother. In my family, the women bring a lineage of abuse and neglect. My father's mother, when I was a preteen, confided in me that her father used to "do things" to her sister. I didn't know what to do with that information back then. Now, in hindsight, I see that she was trying to make me feel safe enough to tell her about what she suspected that her son, my father, was doing to me. She wanted to help me but felt powerless to do so. My mother likely felt powerless also to protect me and do anything to save me. As a result, she jumped on board to make me the family scapegoat, never saving me from my evil father. Her mother, my grandmother, did not save her or protect her as well, as her mother did not save or protect her. My understanding is that my mother's mother was shunned from the Amish community for getting pregnant out of marriage. A channeler once told me that she was raped by her uncle. Years later, she ran away from her husband and five children, abandoning them and not protecting them. I was told that Grandma had a boyfriend who was an ex-con and an alcoholic. She was forced to come home after they were in a car accident, killing him and permanently paralyzing her. Consequently, as a mother, I did not have a clear sense of danger for my children either. What a mothering mess we have made!
